Buying cheap hard drives
Saturday, April 30th, 2011The saying goes, “you get what you pay for.” So, are cheap hard drives worth the money you pay for them – or less?In most cases, they’re actually worth more than the amount you fork over for them. That’s because they’re sold at reduced prices for very valid reasons. They may be left over from a prior year’s model. (Think September car clearance sales.) Or they may be used. With so many people adding to their storage capacity many hard drives are removed from computers long before they’re ready for the scrap heap. Finally, they could be off brands that lack recognizable logos and fancy packaging. Chances are they were made in the exact factory where name brand drives are made so the risk of inferior performance is very small.
